I’ve reached a point in my life where I want to truly understand why I am here. This is not the same as setting life goals and ensuring that I complete them to achieve great things. No, this is about my need to understand the meaning of life. Why we are all here. How it started and where it will end.
Heavy, I know.
“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.”
So, my quest to understand Quantum Physics and find the meaning of life begins …
I’ve been thinking about this for so long and I have always struggled to find any answer that I am satisfied with. If you are religious then you probably already have your answer and I have a lot of respect for you and your beliefs, but religion alone doesn’t answer enough things for me. God means many things to many people. I’m definitely not saying that there’s no truth or good in religion but I have always liked to look at facts and ask questions, it’s how my mind works. If you tell me something and can’t provide me with facts I am always going to have difficulty believing in it. You may say that I lack faith, and perhaps I do, but I see it more as a thirst for knowledge and understanding. What makes humans so different from other animals is how we have developed our brains. We are always searching for answers and have a desire for learning. I can’t ignore this desire and so I have begun my quest to understand one of the most incredible and confusing theories there is… Quantum Physics. I realise that this is a subject that will probably take a whole lifetime to understand however I have started and I already feel that my mind has been opened.
I am clearly not a scientist therefore I will not try to explain Quantum Physics, however what I will do is explain how I understand the theories and how I am applying them to my life. I will also share links to interesting articles or videos that have helped me so far to make sense of things.
The first is a short video which explains very simply how the universe was created and the explanation of the Big Bang Theory, you can watch it here.
Most of us would have studied this at school but I certainly didn’t have a clear enough understanding of anything then to really appreciate this knowledge. Now I’m interested and realise it’s an amazing subject, I wish I could go back to school and really pay attention!
After getting to grips with how the universe was created, the next thing to understand is that absolutely everything in the universe is made up of the same thing – a vibrating frequency of energy. This means that nothing is physical, there is nothing solid here at all, not us, not our cars, not our houses, not the ground we walk on, nothing. You and I are an energy, we are each vibrating our own unique energy just like everything else in the universe, but ultimately we are all a part of the universe.
“If quantum mechanics hasn’t profoundly shocked you, you haven’t understood it yet. Everything we call real is made of things that cannot be regarded as real.” – Niels Bohr”
Now I’ve either lost you or interested you, or maybe both! I admit I can’t understand this yet but at the same time I can see the facts and they have got my attention.
This small amount of understanding I have has also shed some light on the very interesting subject of The Law of Attraction. You’ve probably heard the saying, “Be careful what you wish for”. Well, this is because of The Law of Attraction. This theory suggests that what you believe to be true is true. You will have what you truly want and if you believe in something enough it can and will happen. This seems hard to believe until you accept the fact that the universe is all made up of the same thing, energy.
If you can believe the fact that we are all a part of the universe then why not accept that we are also able to control what our universe is? Let’s start with the basics, you probably find that you attract people who are like-minded into your life, this is because you are vibrating energy on a similar frequency. You understand each other, you like the same things and therefore those people become a part of your world. We all accept that love isn’t physical, we can’t see it or touch it, but we’ve all felt love. Now think about what we discovered about nothing in the universe being physical, money isn’t physical, cars aren’t physical, everything around you is not really real. We see what we see because it’s what we believe to be real.
Mind blown yet?
Well, mine is. However, what I am trying to do is to take a step back and think about this with an open mind. The most talented and intelligent scientists in the world have researched this and can prove their theories. Science is science, it’s logical and factual so I am not going to argue with their findings. I’m still trying to get my relatively simple mind around the subject but I am finding sense in it all and that’s more than I’ve ever done in the past.
If there is some truth in The Law of Attraction then we have to ask why more people aren’t using it. I suppose the answer to that goes back to the fact that we see what we believe to be real. If we don’t really believe in it, we can’t use it. Your conscious mind may accept what I am saying here and even believe it; however if your subconscious mind doesn’t believe it then nothing will happen. Your subconscious mind is much more powerful than your conscious mind as it holds your deep rooted beliefs and fears. You can consciously say that you believe that you will make money, but, if deep down in your subconscious mind there is a belief that “money only goes to money’ for example, then you don’t really believe it. The universe will only give you what you believe to be real. To use The Law of Attraction you must truly believe it and you have to change your subconscious thoughts in order to do this. Think about how you feel and what things are on your mind the most. If you find yourself worrying about certain things then these are the thoughts you are sending out to the universe and these thoughts will have a negative impact on your life. Try to feel grateful and content and imagine yourself having all of the things you desire. If you find all this interesting then I strongly recommend you read the book, The Secret.
On the basis that I am NOT currently sitting in my beach front villa writing this on my new Macbook, after flying to the Caribbean in my private jet, we can safely say that I have not yet mastered the control of my subconscious thoughts but do watch this space! It takes time and I do believe that the universe will bring me what I ask for. **Update Jan 2016, I got the new Macbook, beach front villa and private jet to follow!**
If we accept that the quantum theories are real then the next question for me has to be, what is our purpose? Why are we here and what are we trying to achieve?
For me to make any sense of this I have to go back to the very beginning. The universe was created by an exploding atom which over millions of years eventually created us, humans. Are we an accident? Maybe. Maybe there was no real reason for us to come into existence but the very fact that we did means that we as a species will now do all we can to survive. Reproduce or become immortal, those are our options. If nothing we have is real then nothing is impossible either. We just have to imagine something for it to become real. Just like we have done by creating cars or planes or spaceships. As a species we believe earth is our only home but that’s starting to look untrue now too. There’s a big space up there and we’ve only just begun exploring it. Maybe we will live on another planet soon, perhaps not in my lifetime but certainly in the near future. Perhaps we will become immortal, if we are made of energy just like everything else then what’s to say that we can’t change our body? Our spirit may require a physical body but why not have that in another form?
As I said, I’m no scientist but I am a believer in facts and I am a traveller so if I have the chance in my lifetime to go to space, maybe I will. Why should I restrict my exploring to tiny little planet earth, there’s a big universe out there and I am a part of it so I want to see more of who I am!

Once again, Mind is blown!
Now my research will continue and as I discover more I will write again. In the meantime, “Be careful what you wish for!”
